As I mentioned yesterday, last week didn’t go as planned. I got sick.
So obviously, my fitness suffered! And guess what? That’s okay!
𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐈 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐲 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲. Learning to listen when it needed to rest. I would be working so hard that my body needed the rest to recover and heal.
I would ignore it and keep pushing and then my body would eventually get so rundown that my immune system would weaken and then I would get sick. When this happened, i had no choice but to rest.
𝐌𝐲 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝, 𝐢’𝐦 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞.
This used to drive me insane. I felt that not working out for a week meant that I was going to lose all my progress, 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫.
After years of working in the fitness industry, I know that this thought process is stupid, but it still drives me crazy. But now the thought process is different.
𝐈 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢’𝐦 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐟𝐚𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐭.
For me, it’s more of breaking the habit, the routine of working out that drives me insane.
I know my body needs this time to rest, to recoup. I know I need to listen to my body, but now it’s interfering with my schedule.
If I don’t work out in the morning, then my whole day is gonna be thrown off. 𝗪𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐚𝐲! 𝐋𝐎𝐋 🤣
When life throws you roadblocks like getting sick, embrace it, REST! You’re not going to lose your progress I promise!
Just don’t use being sick as an excuse to eat a grocery store amount of Oreos!! 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝, 𝐎𝐫𝐞𝐨𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬!! 😱
